Airport Parking Shortage

Mar 20 2019

The long term parking lots at the airport have been full, or nearly full, for the past couple of days. If you plan to park here during the next couple of weeks we suggest arriving early — you’ll likely need the extra time to find a parking spot. Open spots are generally available, but you may have to hunt for them. Please forgive the inconvenience.

The parking crunch is the result of the airport’s record breaking passenger growth. Between 2014 and 2018 passenger numbers grew 27%. The growth shows no sign of leveling off:  so far this year passenger growth is up over 9%.

To keep up with demand we added more than 250 parking places less than three years ago (fall of 2016). Those additional spots kept up with demand until this month.

Engineering plans are in progress to add more than 700 additional spots. We have some hope that they might be completed this fall, but completion next spring is more likely. Please bear with us!
